Takeoff
The process of measuring quantities of materials from plans or a site visit to build an accurate estimate.
Takeoff is the math step between 'we want a quote' and 'here's a number.' Square footages, linear feet, units, fixture counts — all extracted from the drawings or measured on site.
A bad takeoff is the most common cause of an underbid job. Automated takeoff tools (including FieldKrew's built-in roofing takeoff) speed it up and reduce errors.
