General Contractor (GC)
The party responsible for the overall coordination and completion of a construction project — typically subbing out specialty work.
A GC carries the contract with the owner and manages every other trade on site. They schedule subs, coordinate inspections, handle payments to subs, and warrant the completed work.
GCs make money from a mix of self-performed work and markup on subs. Strong GCs are as much project managers as builders.
