Stripe Connect setup (taking payments)

Step-by-step walkthrough of connecting Stripe so customers can pay invoices online. Covers what info to have ready, common verification stalls, and how the money actually moves.

Stripe is the company that actually moves money between your customer's card and your bank account. FieldKrew never touches the money — the customer pays Stripe, Stripe sends it to your bank. This is the same setup behind Square, Shopify, every modern SaaS. What you'll need before starting (~5 min to gather) Legal business name (exactly as on your business license / IRS records) Business type : sole prop, LLC, S-corp, etc. SSN or EIN — sole proprietors use SSN; LLCs and corps use the EIN you got from the IRS Business address + phone Bank routing number + account number — get these from a check (bottom of the page) or your bank's mobile app (go to account details). Voided check works too. Driver's license — Stripe sometimes asks for a photo of it for identity verification The flow, click by click Settings → Plan & billing → Get paid online → Start Stripe onboarding . A Stripe window opens. Business details : pick your type, enter legal name, EIN/SSN, business website (your homepage or your FieldKrew lead form URL if you don't have a site). Personal info : your name, date of birth, last 4 of SSN, home address. Stripe needs this for ID verification — they're regulated like a bank. Bank account : routing # + account #. Where money will land. "How will you accept payments?" Pick "Through software" or similar. Stripe uses this to set your account up correctly. Done : you're sent back to FieldKrew. The Get-paid-online card should now show Connected with a green check. "Pending verification" — what's happening Stripe sometimes needs more info before clearing your account to accept payments. They'll email you with a link. Common requests: Photo of driver's license — upload via the link. Phone photo is fine. Proof of business address — utility bill or recent invoice with your business name + address. Business website — if Stripe can't find you online they may ask for one. Your FieldKrew lead-form URL counts. Most contractors clear verification in 1-3 business days. Until then you can SEND invoices but the customer's pay link returns "this account is not yet ready to accept payments." How the money moves once you're set up You send an invoice from FieldKrew. The customer gets an email with a "Pay invoice" link. They click → land on your branded payment page → enter card or bank info → click Pay. Stripe charges the card / pulls from their bank. You get a notification on FieldKrew within seconds. Invoice flips to Paid . The job's status moves to Paid . Payout : Stripe holds the money for ~2 business days (security), then sends it to your bank. Subsequent payouts are typically next-day. You can see every payout in Settings → Plan & billing → Stripe dashboard link. Fees Cards : 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction (Stripe's standard rate) ACH / bank transfer : 0.8% capped at $5 per transaction FieldKrew Pro : 0% platform fee — we take nothing on top FieldKrew Free : 1% platform fee (this is why Pro pays for itself fast) Example: $5,000 invoice paid by ACH. Stripe takes $5. You net $4,995. On Pro you keep all $4,995. On Free you keep $4,945.
