Resend setup (email from your own domain)

How to send customer emails from quotes@yourdomain.com via Resend.

Resend lets you send transactional email from your own domain (e.g. quotes@joesroofing.com ) without running an SMTP server. FieldKrew supports plugging in your own Resend API key. If you'd rather use your existing Gmail or Outlook inbox, you don't need Resend at all — see Settings → Customer comms → Messaging for the "Connect Gmail / Outlook" buttons. Use Resend only if you want messages to send from a dedicated marketing/quotes address on your own domain. Step 1 — Create a Resend account Go to resend.com → Sign up (free for 3,000 emails/mo). Verify your email. Step 2 — Add your domain Resend dashboard → Domains → Add Domain . Enter the domain you'll send from — e.g. joesroofing.com (no subdomain). Resend will give you 3-4 DNS records to add: an SPF TXT, two DKIM CNAMEs, and (optional but recommended) a DMARC TXT. Step 3 — Add the DNS records Wherever your domain is registered (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Google Domains, etc.): Log in to your registrar → DNS settings for the domain. For each record Resend gave you: click Add Record → match the Type (TXT or CNAME), Name (often something like resend or send ), and Value exactly. Save. DNS propagation typically takes 5-30 minutes. Sometimes a few hours. Refresh the Resend domain page periodically — it'll show "Verified" when ready. Step 4 — Create an API key Resend dashboard → API Keys → Create API Key . Name: "FieldKrew Production". Permissions: Full Access. Copy the key (starts with re_ ) immediately — Resend only shows it once. Step 5 — Wire it into FieldKrew FieldKrew → Settings → Customer comms → Messaging. Email sending mode: Use my Resend API key . Paste the re_... key. From address: e.g. Joe's Roofing . The address part must match a verified domain in your Resend account. Save. Step 6 — Test From a lead or contact → send yourself a test email. Within seconds it should land in your inbox showing the right From address. If it went to spam, check that your SPF / DKIM are passing in the email headers (Gmail: ⋮ → "Show original"). Tips for staying out of spam Always include a real reply-to (FieldKrew already sets this — it's the per-customer routing token, so replies thread back). Make sure DMARC is set to at least p=none (let it run for a month, then move to p=quarantine ). Don't send sales-y blast emails from this address — keep it transactional (quotes, invoices, reminders) for best deliverability. Costs Resend free tier: 3,000 emails/month, 100/day. Paid: $20/month for 50,000 emails/mo. For a typical small operator (~500 customer emails/month), free is plenty.
